Program Assistant, Agriculture
The Program Assistant will be based full-time in the project-affected villages of the Sothern Section and will maintain relationships with each individual Project -Affected Household. He/She and will be assigned to various number of Project-Affected Households to be responsible for. The Field Liaison Officer will be expected to visit Project Affected Households regularly, provide technical advice, support, and encouragement, and monitor the quality of the interventions being delivered by Local Implementing Partners.
Job Location: Masaka, Uganda
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile periodic reports to the Technical Team Leads.
- Ensure backstopping of Local Implementing Partners in the different project areas.
- Ensure that the activities are being implemented as planned.
- Register any concern that might arise during the implementation and forward it to the Team Lead.
- Ensure that the Local Implementing Partners adhere to all the Standard Operating Procedures in place.
- Liaise with the different relevant Stakeholders to ensure that the districts and sub-county Project Affected Households are at peace.
- Advise management on how to improve quality delivery.
- Attend regular meetings as and when required.
- Carry on any other duties as assigned by the Team Lead.
- Support project activities implementation for the Livelihood Restoration Coordination Program
- Build and maintain effective relationships with every Household.
- Conduct regular field visits to project sites to monitor progress, identify challenges, and provide technical support to beneficiaries, in liaison with implementing partners.
- Report any challenges or deviation from agreed plans and suggest solutions.
- Support the development and implementation of project activities, including surveys, capacity-building workshops, training sessions, and networking events.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between the project teams and Team Leaders, organizing relevant meetings and ensuring that relevant information is shared with all.
- Should be based in Masaka district.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in rural development programs, particularly in community-based projects.
- Experience in collaborating with Local Implementing Partners, NGOs, or government agencies is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of animal health practices, disease prevention, and treatment, with practical experience in rural livestock management.
- Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation, with the ability to assess the effectiveness of interventions.
- Ability to interpret technical reports and provide sound advice on agriculture-based livelihoods.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with local communities and stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently in remote locations with minimal supervision.
- Fluency in local languages spoken in Masaka region is an added advantage.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software for report writing and data management.
